I want to consider the following topics for my I-search. They are list in order of preference.
Causes and effects of the sharks attacks along the New Jersey coast in 1916.
Does making jigsaw puzzles reduce stress.
The "trophy" items taken during the Holocaust, and why were these specific items taken.
Sickmutt
What prompted you to zero in on shark attacks in 1916? Did you have family members who mentioned it or did you grow up in the New Jersey area hearing stories about these attacks?
Daly & Dooley ... I grew up on the Jersey shore and remember my grandparents talking about the "Summer of the Sharks." I remember there were displays and news articles posted in many of the beach communities along the coast.
Bryan - I think it would be interesting to research the Scandanavian culture, but I think you should narrow it down to some specific aspect of the culture, i.e. art, customs, lifestyle, etc. and perhaps how the people affect the culture and how the culture affects the people.
Elise - I've always been fascinated with Australia...maybe someday I'll get there! I think your topic might be a bit too broad. I think you should try to focus on specific aspects, regions, time periods, peoples, etc. of the history and/or the culture that are of interest to you rather than try to grab the entire continent.
Gavin - I like the werewolf idea. (I understand that you've changed the topic from werewolves to vampires). The premise is similar. Are you planning to delve into the origins and history of the vampire? Do you intend to consider the myths/legends & folklore as well as the true medical phenomena? Are you going to confine your research to any specific geographic region or time period? And finally, are you going to consider the introduction of the vampire and its various mutations and names in literature and film? How exciting. Bet you can't wait to sink your teeth into this! Enlighten us as to your fascination - we don't want this to turn into a standard report.
